Monday Night Prayer: Part II

This IS a true story.

The Sunday after, there was a pretty important game, not only in my house, but basically the entire NFL. The undefeated Indianapolis Colts were going to play the undefeated New England Patriots. Now, I love the Packers. They are my favorite team, but I grew up in Indiana and in a home where we rooted for the Colts. If anyone roots for the Colts, they have to root against the Patriots. If someone is a Colts fan, they despise the Patriots, so, naturally, I despised the Patriots.
This was a match-up that I have always loved
This was no ordinary year, though. The season began with a cheating controversy when the Patriots were caught by the NFL in the videotaping of opponents' defensive signals in their Week 1 game against the New York Jets. However, instead of the league taking away the win, they went ahead and let the Patriots win anyway.
The week during the Colts-Patriots game, I prayed. I figured, “God let the Packers win when I prayed, maybe he will let the Colts win if I pray all week.” That is what I did. Not only did I ask God to help the Colts win, but I also put a little cherry on the top. I knew God could not resist.
“Dear Heavenly Father,” I prayed, “You know that the Patriots cheated in the beginning of the year. They do not deserve to win the game. I know you can do anything, and I am asking you to help the Patriots get what they deserve and lose this week. In Jesus’ name, amen.” So, that Sunday before the game, I knew the Colts were going to win. God would not let the Patriots win, because I reminded Him that the Patriots had cheated. They did not have a chance.
The game was played, and at the end of it I was angry. The Patriots had won the game, 24-20.
“Why?!” I asked God angrily. “Why did you let the Patriots win?” The Patriots went on to the end of the season undefeated.
